Subjects on alternative fuels to be incorporated in 57-75 campaign
Subjects on sustainable and alternative fuels will soon be incorporated in elementary and high school levels through the 57-75 campaign to promote clean and alternative fuels and technologies. It will be included in the science and community activities of the school.
The inclusion will be made after the Department of Education (DepEd) through City Superintendent of Schools Dr. Erlinda Gencaya, Mayor Jerry Treñas, Joel Pagsanghan of 57-75 Task Force and Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Clean Cities Coalition (MIGCCC) chair Councilor Jose Espinosa III signed a memorandum of understanding.
Those who were also present in last Monday's signing of MOU were USAID development assistance specialist Lily Gutierrez, SEDP country director Divina Chingcuanco, and Fuels for Life Movement (F4L) partners Bernie Raymundo of Seaoil and Solarco president Robert Puckett. Representatives from the Department of Energy, Shell, Philbio, SeaOil and Solar Co also witnessed the MOU signing.
Under a partnership, the MIGCCC shall co-lead, together with the 57-75 Campaign, in the development of a teacher's training module on alternative fuels and sustainable energy, by conducting a series of writeshops and provide technical experts and materials and supplies necessary for the writeshop.
Among the interventions identified is the improvement of teachers' competencies through the development of modules for teachers training in sustainable energy and alternative fuels.
The Schools Division of Iloilo City shall be providing experts in module writing. The city government, on the other hand, shall provide the resources necessary such as the venue for the conduct of writeshops.
The 57-75 campaign is a national multi-sectoral campaign that aims to reverse the education crisis through focused private sector interventions and community actions towards system-wide performance improvements.
